In every other sport the eastern and western or American and National conferences play all the time, why is it a huge deal in baseball? Why is inter league so special in baseball?because it is still a recent thing for baseball others have been doing it for years and its just an afterthoughtWhy is inter league so special in baseball?
In baseball National and American league teams usually play only with their league during the regular season. So in inter league play teams get a chance to play against teams they normally wouldn't play against. Also American league teams have a Designated Hitter for the Pitcher who doesn't hit and in the National league the pitcher has to hit. But mainly is just to play against other teams in a different league. Why is inter league so special in baseball?Well before MLB began inter league play, the only way an NL team would face an AL team was in the World Series. So it is a big change.
I like it because it brings the stars from other teams to home ballparks and lets us enjoy the match ups between the best hitters against the best pitchers, etc.
It also restores rivalries like, Giants-A's, Cardinals-Brewers, Yankee's-Mets, White Sox-Cubs... it is just fun and it save us from watching our home teams play series over and over again with the same six teams all year long...
It is a big change and a fun one.
Not including the All-Star Game %26amp; World Series, the American League %26amp; National League never play each other. Except in inter league, that's the only other time they play each other. Look at these to websites for more.

http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/history/interleague/index.jspWhy is inter league so special in baseball? It's really not special, a lot of people hate it.
But those people exaggerrate a bit. It's not as bad as they think. It's cool to see teams from the other league play, I barely see them play. Because of interleague play, there is Cubs-Sox, which is awesome.
However, like one dude said above, the AL and NL do NOT hate each other, no idea where that came from. Why is inter league so special in baseball?
Throughout the history of baseball the only time players from different leagues faced each other was at the All Star Game and the World Series. That changed a few decades back when interleague play began so it's still something new for baseball fans
We don't play the other league as much and so you might get the 2 teams from the same state playing like White Sox and Cubs. Also the AL and NL hate each other. Why is inter league so special in baseball?
It is a big change and a fun one.
