That is if we dont destroy ourselves first.Do you think that someday humans will achieve inter galactic travel? That is so far beyond our capability that even Star Trek didn't have it. I find it hard to believe we could develop that before humanity evolves into another species. I suspect humanity will voluntarily evolve itself by way of genetic engineering into what we today would not consider human. It will start (has started already) with genetic testing of babies before they are born (amniocentesis) and will progress to selecting against genetic diseases, like diabetes, then to making people less susceptible to contagious diseases, making them stronger, smarter, and so on. Kind of like what they depict in the movie Gattaca. So our not quite human distant decedents might travel to other galaxies.Do you think that someday humans will achieve inter galactic travel?
Humans might have a chance
Intergalactic travel, as it pertains to humans, is impractical by modern engineering ability and so is often relegated as purely science fiction. It would require the available means of propulsion to become advanced far beyond what is currently thought possible to engineer in order to bring a large craft close to the speed of light. Unless the craft were capable of reaching extreme relativistic speeds, another obstacle would be to navigate the spacecraft between galaxies and succeed in reaching any chosen galaxy, star, planet or other body, as this would need an understanding of galactic movements and their coordination that is as of yet not understood. The craft would have to be of considerable size, without reaching speeds with noteworthy relativistic effect as mentioned above it would also need a life support system and structural design able to support human life through thousands of generations and last the millions of years required, including the propulsion system -- which would have to work perfectly the millions of years after it was built to slow down the machine for its final approach. Even for unmanned probes which would be much lighter in mass, the problem exists that the information they send can only travel at light speed, which would mean millions of years just to receive the data they send.Do you think that someday humans will achieve inter galactic travel?Based on what we now know, it is most unlikely. Intergalactic distances are immense. It takes light 165 thousand years to reach us from the nearest (dwarf) galaxy.
The Andromeda Galaxy, 2 million light years away, is the nearest major galaxy and is of comparable size to our own galaxy. The Magellanic Clouds are irregular dwarf galaxies that are even nearer. The Small and Large Magellanic Clouds are located 165,000 light years and 195,000 light years away respectively. However, Andromeda is the nearest major galaxy and is the most distant celestial object still visible to the naked eye.Do you think that someday humans will achieve inter galactic travel?
I hope so. I think our technology and our understanding of how the universe works gets better every day. We should work on getting over our petty differences so we can all work together and push towards the stars.Do you think that someday humans will achieve inter galactic travel? No because they only way would be able to do that is to travel at or faster than the speed of light. Einstein's theory of relativity proves that it is impossible to travel that fast.Do you think that someday humans will achieve inter galactic travel?
Eventually using worm holes,yes!
at the speed of light?
