Okay, as I'm a Juventus fan I can answer this pretty well, albeit concise!
The stars basically stand for the number of titles won, however, each star stands for 10 titles won; Juventus have 27 (should be 29 lol) Inter and AC Milan both have 17, therefore Juventus have 2 stars above their crest and both Milan team's have 1star above them!
Teams also have been known for having stars above their crests for the number of European Cups won but I'm not sure whether Italian teams use it; perhaps in Europe?
BTW an interesting off point, Juventus are currently guilty of Calciopoli of 2006 until proven innocent; so if Juventus win the title next year there have been rumours that the club will add a third star for their 30th title but the FIGC (Italian F.A) will only recognize it as their 28th....can't wait to see how that will pan out, Juventus claim to be innocent but we're only guilty til proven innocent apparently. Some say its a conspiracy; its so long to go into detail but I hope I helped out anyway! :)Why are the badges of juve,milan and inter have stars in it?They represent league titles mostly, some teams have them to represent european successes. I am a Rangers supporter and we wear 5 stars on our jersey to represent the 52 league titles we have, however Celtic who have 42 titles choose to have 1 gold star to represent their European Cup win.
