I know dozens of interracial couples, some of them married with kids. It's just a not a big deal in real world America. People come to Y/A to vent and so they skew your opinion of what the average American thinks. You're reading the same 10 or 12 ranters writing under ever changing IDs and it gives the impression that all Americans are idiots.
interracial and interclass marrying is a HUGE deal all over the entire planet....including in places like Europe and Brazil where many people tend to act like it doesn't exist.

Race, racism, interracial dating is one of the last taboos. Until people can speak about it freely and be more honest about the way they feel and perceive people, until people stop cleaving to stereotypes and other ignorant nonsense, race, racism and interracial dating will always be a "big deal." The problem in the US, in my opinion, is that everyone wants to pretend that racism is a thing of the past. Has moved out of public eye, so to speak, but it's still extremely systemic and very much alive.

As for the rest of the world, I've lived in Canada for a long time, and as much as Canada says it's a multiracial country, there is still a lot of racism there. I've lived in the US and Mexico and saw racism. The caste system in India is an inherently racist and classist institution. Do Sunnis still hate Shi'as and Hazaras?? The entire planet is racist to some extent. We need to get to know each other better.

This question is just a way of attacking Americans...which is fine but if you're going to Question America about it's racism... also question France and England and Brazil and China and Japan and, well, every other country on the planet too.

Until 1967 it was illegal in many US States to marry if you were not of the same race there is even a cause celebre on this topic. The US today is an open society but not so long ago it was extremely racist. Americans here who say it doesn't matter are not telling the truth. Even today most ppl prefer to marry their own race. A shame but that is the way America works.
Because America is basically full of racists. That's all there is too it. Frankly they should've gotten over this by now, but you know Republicans. They fuel racism in America. Idiots, basically.



Not that everyone in America (or the U.S.A i guess you mean) has a problem with it, but there's a lot of stereotyping, especially in the South. Now i'm from the U.K, but I spent a lot of time in the U.S, so believe me, I know how it is.

its really not that big of a deal here; its much bigger deal inother countires..where its forbidden....funny, i thought england had the biggest problem with marriages...inter religious...protestant against catholic..now thats some stuff right there...thats serious bias
For about 85% of us, it isn't a big deal but you always have those squeaky wheels. I think we just seem to have bigger mouths to blab on and on about stupid stuff!
because the U.States has issues with everyone. I am hispanic born in California I have always dated my own race because of that. People can't accept you dating outside your race.
