In Milan, who roots for which team? Who's more popular there? Can someone explain the differences? What's the reputation of each team? Can someone detail the differences between AC Milan and Inter? Both teams, like most in Italy, have had encounters with cheating. Inter, to some, still has some ties to left wing socialism. For more details on those matters, read "How Soccer Explains the World" and "Soccer against the Enemy."
As for the origins of the clubs:
In 1899 the Milan Cricket and Football club was formed and a split in 1908, over the participation of foreign players, gave birth to Inter Milan and Associazine Calcio Milan.
The famous tire industrialist Dr. Piero Pirelli ensured the financial security of AC Milan thereafter. AC Milan has won the top European tournament seven times (only Real Madrid has more with nine), but has been relegated twice.
AC Milan was found guilty of match fixing in 2006 and successfully appealed the 15 point deduction and ban from the Champions League, to just an 8 point deduction. The also won the CL the following year against Liverpool.
After the split, Inter continued on with their foreign players (thus the name Internazionale) and has never been relegated (the only Italian side to do so).
Ironically, both teams share the same grounds. Although, AC Milan calls the stadium the San Siro, while Inter refer to it as the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
Hope that sums up the historical aspect of your question. Can someone detail the differences between AC Milan and Inter?
there isnt really any differences between the 2 teams. except one team wears blue and black striptes(inter) and the other red and black stripes (AC). both teams are champions in italy and both are champions in europe. hope this has cleared some things up =]Can someone detail the differences between AC Milan and Inter?Hmm...I come from Milan and I do not see a difference in political or religious issued, though there is a kind of difference in working class there, or more like there used to be. AC Milan were the richer club when in the starting days and the upper class club, whereas Inter the worker's club.
But this is hardly the case now, with the latest generations simply choosing the club based on family tradition or personal choice.
Im the only AC supporter in a whole family of Juve and Inter fans!
AC Milan is known for winning International trophies more than home ones, though they have one more italian leagues than Inter anyways. Inter had not won a league title from 1989 till three years ago when the Calciopoli scandal had the title taken from Juve and handed to them by default, and they won the following year and are ahead this year. However they have won only 2 Champs leagues, both in the 60s, in contrary to Milan's 7, 5 of which in the last 20 years. Can someone detail the differences between AC Milan and Inter?
