I think the actual definition of a derby is a match between two huge rivals, whether they're in the same city or not. Inter vs. Milan is definitely the biggest local derby, and overall one of the biggest derbies. You answered your question. No. Never will be. If you're a Madrid fan you'll think otherwise but if you're a Milan, Inter or just a fan of the game and don't have a team then this is the derby to watch. It's the best.



Barcelona and Real Madrid is called the El Classico but I don't think it's considered a derby. No more than Juventus vs. Milan. Even if it was my answer still stands. haha wtf in my opinion the Ac Milan vs Inter Milan rivalry is one of the poorest in the world involving big teams. Dont get me wrong i mean i am watching it because everytime thse 2 teams play they play a heck of a game but in terms of most important i dont think so.... i dont even think the rivalry is THAT BIG i mean i constantly see ppl in this forum that follow Ac Milan complement Inter and vice versa and players move from Inter to Ac Milan or the other way around like nothing... apparently they dont take the rivalry that important either. There are plenty of games in teh world more important than Inter vs Ac Milan but its going to be a good game thats for sureIs there a better, more entertaining, more important derby in the world than AC Milan vs Inter Milan?

Tbh in Argentina, in Scotland and even in London there are some important derbies. To each their own, depending on which league and team you support.

More generally it's same-city, or close region games. Even Inter-Juve is called "Derby d'Italia" due to the rivalry.



Rafa, you have NO idea of the rivalry between the two teams. Trust me. There is more rivalry between Milan and Inter than with either of these two with Juventus. I guess if you ever lived here, went to San Siro, etc you'd know. It's amicable, not pure hate, but the rivalry is INCREDIBLE. The Coreographies, rude chants, media coverage, slating bw players and the way it is agonistically played on the pitch year in year out (rarely is this derby a boring one) is a testament to that.

I agree with Rafa, Milan derby is nothing special, the biggest Italian derby is Juventus vs Torino and probably the most violent one is Roma vs Lazio (we all know what happened in 2004).... derbies like Boca vs River, Celtic vs Rangers, Partizan vs Red Star, Fenerbache vs Galatasaray, Olympiacos vs Panathinaikos etc etc are much better than Milan derby!!!!

If your a fan of the Serie A and those two specific teams, than perhaps its the biggest derby day for you, but I don't think its the biggest in the world, it is up there though.

World Soccer Magazine, which is a reputable magazine in Britain recently had an article on the 50th Biggest Derbies in the world.

Inter-AC came in 15th according to their group of journalists.

They actually rated the Roma-Lazio Derby higher @ 6th.
