Have got the books, have searched the internet but just wanted some personal oppinions on travel, cost, flexibility, etc and anything else anyone has to add to traveling Europe. Only wanting to do two weeks this time round.Want to go inter railing around Europe for in October, any suggestions or advice?I did that one summer and had a great time. A few things: don't do any booking from home before you go, because you'll probably find much better deals when you're there in person (I met a guy who spent close to $2,000 for a tour that I was able to bargain for in person for just $65).
If you're going to do any long trips, you can get an overnight couchette on a train and save the money you'd pay for the night on a hotel/hostel, but be sure to bring earplugs with you because some of the trains are loud.
I'm not sure whether you've already bought your train ticket, but you might want to check out Ryan Air and some of the other low cost airlines in Europe, as they may be able to get you to where you want to go cheaper and quicker than some of the trains.
Try to spend as much time as you can in Eastern Europe--it's cheaper and the people are great. Prague, Budapest, and Bucharest are some of my favorites.
You've probably read this before, but never let your passport out of your site; they're a pain to replace, and plenty of people on the trains say that they need your passport and ticket to confirm your identity--let them look at it, but don't let them take it anywhere out of your site because they could be someone with a fake uniform trying to take and then re-sell your passport.Want to go inter railing around Europe for in October, any suggestions or advice? As far as getting around, trains are good way to go. It's not as busy in October as it is in the summer, so you shouldn't have to worry about trains getting full as often. YOu should be able to pay as you go. There are also budget airplanes that can get you around faster, but you'd have to plan in advance. If you book early, they are pretty cheap.

Must sees: Krakow, Vienna, Salzburg, Munich, Paris, Venice, Florence. If you could, upgrade to first class. Sometimes you get whole cabins to yourself. When we bought the tickets, it was only $50 more each, and it was definitely worth it. Remember to pack light! Only bring a small suitcase. Trust me, carrying around huge luggage around Europe is NOT fun.
